Happy B(52)Day to Me!

Anyone who knows me KNOWS I’m obsessed with The B-52’s. So getting the chance to party with them on my BDay Weekend in Palm Springs was a dream come true. I can die. My life is now complete. Cindy is my fave. (Don’t tell Kate.) She’s got that Earth Momma vibe that makes her glow. And she also speaks in thick-as-molasses drawl that instantly endears her to everyone. She walked up and gave us all a hug. I may have peed a little. Kate is in her 60’s and still looks stunning. She’s clearly the group leader. (Don’t tell Fred.) She acts like everyone’s big sister. She was slightly more subdued at the post-concert meet-and-greet. Imagine my genuine surprise when Fred invited us to a BDay party for Kate’s partner. (Don’t tell Keith.) All in all … the single coolest night of my life. Ever.

Jerry Springer

Little known fact: nearly every single one of the school commercials I have produced over the years has aired in “The Jerry Springer Show”. To me, Jerry is the patron saint of my industry. When I found myself standing alongside Jerry outside a casino in Vegas, I was completely flummoxed! Part of me wanted to run up and gleefully tell him that he gives me job security, but figured that would take too long to explain. So I chatted him up about Vegas and hosting multiple shows and-so-forth-and-so-on.

I’m glad I saw him first because 30 seconds after this pic was taken, he was MOBBED by his legions of fans. Vegas is RIFE with humanity. Once they found out the leader of their deranged free world was around … they wanted to be near him. Jerry is about as real as they come. He’s one part-host, one part stand-up comedian, one part therapist and one part troublemaker. Now who does that remind you of? It was like looking in a mirror.
