MoxieQ

So if you’ve read my blogs over the last few days about working the red carpet at The 2011 GLAAD Media Awards, you know what a big opportunity that was for me.

moxielogoAnd, of course, none of that would have been possible without the fine folks from MoxieQ, the superfab, superfun website I write for.  From humble beginnings, the website is thisclose to becoming the next media darling … not unlike The Huffington Post.  (www.moxieq.com)

The website’s motto:  A Gay For Every Girl.  (Get it?)

MoxieQ-CrewThe company’s owners Heidi Lehman and Kim Olson have taken a kitschy-fun idea and turned it into a website that caters to straight women who adore their gay best friends.  (Which is, collectively, 89.2% of the blogosphere.)   I, along with several other writers from around the country, give the 411 on everything from fashion to food and travel tips to relationships.  It’s all fair game at MoxieQ.

Heidi and I spent the weekend hobnobbing with celebrities at the GLAAD event.  Even though we haven’t worked together in earnest before, we made a good team.  Heidi would tackle or distract the oh-so annoying publicists while I schmoozed the celebrities standing in front of me.  Plus, she looks important, so that was an added bonus.

DSCN0774It also helped that Heidi knew every single media outlet on the red carpet.  And if she didn’t know who they were, they certainly knew who SHE was.  Girlfriend was complimentary and patient with me throughout the entire afternoon.  I’m sure she wanted to bitchslap me at some point, but showed amazing self-restraint.  (Probably because I bruise easily and it wouldn’t have looked good on camera.)

matthew'sbodofdeathAll the writers, or as we’re called Tastemakers, each have a special area that we focus on.  Mine, of course, is pop culture.  (You’ll often see me post links on my Facebook page.)  I write an article called “Just Sayin'” … it’s a veritable hodge-podge of the day’s water-cooler fodder.   When Barbie & Ken got back together, I wrote about it.  And the article quickly went viral.   And when Glee’s Matthew Morrison went shirtless on the cover of a magazine, I gave my readers a sneak peek on how he got so incredibly buff before the shoot.  (The secret is sweet potatoes.)

If you haven’t had a chance to peruse the site, go for it.  In the last couple years, we’ve gotten noticed by a bevy of phone carriers who now carry our content … and we’re now partnering with Bravo which gives us an even broader audience to do our thing.

Personally, I’m not quite sure what my “thing” is yet, but once I figure it out, I’ll let you know and then you’ll really be sorry.  Uhhhhh … Just Sayin’.
