The Oscars are days away, and that can only mean one thing.
Celebrities are panicking about what the hell they’re wearing. This year there’s more pressure than ever to stand out from the crowd. Why? Call it the Gaga Effect.
According to designer Marc Bouwer, many of the celeb fashionistas are going futuristic … following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga. And while I agree there’s a time and place for everything, are the Oscars ready for Gaga-inspired frocks?
Bower explains: “Artists are starting to dress much more crazy, more out there and it has a ripple effect on fashion. While you won’t see a Lady Gaga outfit necessarily on the Oscar red carpet, you will see more architectural styles ” an expanded shoulder, a pronounced sleeve. The stronger power woman has emerged, and you cannot ignore that trend.”
You heard it hear first.
That means Natalie Portman will be dressing like a pregnant Barbarella and Melissa Leo will show up in something made of tinfoil wearing antennae.
Get ready for lots and lots and lots of bling too from the usual suspects, and A-list wannabes.

Greg Kwiat of Kwiat Diamonds, the company responsible for making those amazing $2 million shoes worn by Alison Krauss in 2004, adds:
“We’re going to see statement pieces. A bracelet, a necklace. There will be everything from classic diamonds to lots of colors like yellow gold or aquamarine.”
One thing I’m sure of … there’s gonna be a lot of fashion don’ts. Especially if 14-year old Hailee Steinfeld tries to wear any sort of cone bra. Or moon boots. Or …
